Part of the problem these days is most virii involve smtp spam and trojan horse bot's - both of which your average punter can live with and won't notice.
What I'd like to see is more viruses of the smoke your hardrive and blow up your monitor kind. People would be damn careful about popups, AV products and firewalls if this were the case.
