I guess that makes sense. Being a male, I don't quite grasp the extent to which females find it hard to integrate into predominantly male groups. Personally though I would welcome females, and it isn't even a case of "looking for a mate" kind of welcoming that was expressed elsewhere. Males and females think so differently in some situations that a male approach isn't always the answer - women have a lot to offer. We have a lot to offer women too!
I can't see why they feel the need to form LinuxChix at all - why not just make more of an effort to integrate into existing Linux groups and change the balance, instead of segregating themselves.
