What is a a $3k classic car? Just curious. Classics have gone price crazy in the last 5 years.
I paid $2500 for my Saratoga (about 15 years ago), last one I saw sold for $45k. Mine is nicer (clean survivor w documents). That seller got lucky, 2 eager buyers at 1 auction.
3k was where I started on the Rustang. Then I started buying more race parts...
It's always a symptom of a manager that has no better metric than face time.
At the end of the two years, the net negative workers that still maintain face time will get good reviews and raises. The worker that is productive and keeps sane hours will be canned.
The solution is simply to flee, or never take the job in the first place.
I can get far more live entertainment value for $300 at the local strip club vs broadway shows. To be fair; I should compare costs of Manhattan nudie bars, which are insane.
Israel wrote the original Stux. They more or less admitted it on the retirement of the commander (who's name escapes me). No in so many words, but they are responsible and deserve all _credit_.
I installed a DOS lanmanager client on an ancient (but still useful) PC based machine tool about a year ago. It was on a local network segment as I had to render the server insecure so lanmanger authentication worked.
Good thing I never throw anything away. I knew I'd need an ISA ethernet card eventually.
Some atheists believe things at least as irrational (Marxism) as any religion. When their beliefs conflict with reality they kill people, just like the religious.
Marx's single biggest mistake is expecting 'the new communist man' to emerge.
Basically that's an admission that communism doesn't work, but a religious arm wave to make it all better. At that point, Marx wasn't even trying to stay in the real world.
I try, but in this country there are two major parties. One that openly wants to run everything and is working full time to make as many people as possible dependant on them, and another that claims to want 'small government' but in practice never saw a cash flow that it couldn't find a way to monetize.
They both put too much power in the government. Though only the Ds are open in their racism these days. Claim it isn't racist when they do it.
No, it's the government that can't be trusted. You could change the people out every year and they would still be corrupted by the power. How well would the organization work with people changed out before the power corrupts them? (Not at all, but it would still be preferable to what we have.)
Organizations that make their own rules CANNOT be 'demonstrable constrained by rules'. The rest of you thinking hangs on this mistake.

You don't go to nudie bars expecting to get laid. You go for entertainment. Same as people who go to broadway shows.
Yeah, I hear you.
I was minding my own business, sitting in gyno row, the stripper finished her dance and came around to get her dollar.
Tampon string, inches from my face...I went Kinison on her. Talk about bloopers.
You're saying you already have enough ammo?

It's still invested. Just overseas and with earnings unreported.
All costs are opportunity costs.
You can't find anything better to spend $300 on? Really? You could get 1000 rounds of ammo for that kind of money.
Ask yourself: What would Alexander Hamilton have done? Buy the ammo.
The grid is pretty robust.
The attack you describe would only work well on one of the hottest days of the year. But on that day it could really fuck things.
Microkernels are more secure. At some point we just need to pay the context switch overhead and get on with it.

FYI there are _no_ good tech schools in the ivy league.
MIT isn't ivy.
At that level, you don't 'spend' money, you 'invest' it. Otherwise inflation will eat it.
Just an allusion to south park. Spend your money on my show...get a blowjob from your date.
Don't you watch south park?
Broadway tickets will get your dick sucked.

Back to no true commie.
Unhealthy concentration of power is a feature of all command economies.
Even marx knew they had to go through a command economy stage to get to 'perfect communism'. Which is death to the dream, it can never work.
Count the totals for Marx. Hitler + Stalin + Mao exceeds christianity's total. Granting that's mostly down to population growth, it remains true.
You lump all religious people together, I lump all the atheists together. Turnabout...

So all you've got is 'no true scotsman'?
Exactly like 'no true christian'.

9 out of 10 participants like gang rape.
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner.
Pure democracy sucks.
