Back in November, I deleveloped an application (MobileEye) which converts a camera phone into a barcode reader. This work was already presented in the MovilForum conference organised by Telefónica in SPAIN. Therefore, I dont think that this SpotCode system is anything new.
I was the author of the TRIP system at the University of Cambridge, on which I believe the SpotCode is highly based on. I think it is really likely that they have used the algorithms that I described in my PhD dissertation. I would have appreciated some acknowledgement!
