I'm not sure where I saw this, maybe TechTV, but wasn't there a news article about high speed wireless devices incroaching upon spectrums for other devices? By utilizing more than one channel, the wireless routers increased their throughput but at the same time impacted neighbors.

While the FCC does sometimes go off on a tangent, a little order here seems to be both a good thing and the primary intent of FCC regulation.
