Printing a fake boarding pass to get through security has been easy for a long time. Just save as a pdf or jpg or png or other file the boarding pass you create when you check in online. Then the next time you need to get through security, edit the boarding pass to show today's date and you can get through security to go out to the gates anytime. You won't be able to board a plane, but if you want to meet someone at the gate, it is a cinch.
The security at airports to prevent people from getting out to a gate is easy to get through. Just go to any airport and watch. There are all sorts of loopholes you can use to get through. The only people the security stops are the law abiding people.
Non of the state's resources were being used for the Seattle monorail. The funds for the project were coming strictly from Seattle car owners.
It is sad to see public transportation in the US in such a dismal state. Transportation systems inside cities and between close cities such as Seattle and Portland are a joke. The freeways are so clogged that you can barely go 30 miles an hour much of the time. Even subway-elevated systems in cities like Chicago have dark, dingy stations and narrow stairways.
Go to Japan and see what a real transportation system is like. I go to Japan frequently and getting around is so much easier than in the US. The taxi service (passenger doors which open automatically and clean, professional drivers who wear white cloves) to trains which get cleaned regularly to planes, things run so much smoother than in the US.
For a corridor comparable to Portland - Seattle - Vancouver, BC, you would have over 100 trains going each way daily and the travel time between each of the cities would be about an hour. Inter urban travel times in the US are nowhere near as fast as Japan.
The unfortunate fact is that at the turn of the century the Seattle area had a mass transit system with travel times which today's car driver can only dream about.
The one thing you can say about Bush is that he loves to vacation. Check this Slate article: The Out-of-Towner (slate.msn.com/id/2098861). And for this we pay him $400,000 a year? If I was going to pay someone $400,000 a year, I would want to get someone who knew what he was doing and knew how to work.
What is great about the film are all the clips of Bush making a total ass of himself. Moore doesn't even need to say a word. It is so funny and then you realize that the idiot Bush is the president of the US. Then you realize how fucked we all are that we can have idiots like that running the country.
The press often talks about someone's actions being presidential. And yet they never show the idiotic ramblings of the current president. It is clear that the media is keeping the truth from the public. People may have issues with the things Michael Moore says in the movie, but what can they say about the clips of Bush being himself?
One thing that irritated me back in 2001 after 9/11 happened was that the press refused to seriously ask why did this happen? They never went back and began a discussion about US activities in the Middle East. For decades the US has been fucking around with Middle Eastern countries, overturning governments and trying to force US policies down their throats. At one time the US was a big supporter of Saddam and even helped him gas Iranians. When I saw those planes hit those buildings, my first thoughts were, it's payback time. But right away the media starting aping the "It's because they hate freedom" argument which is just bullshit. You can't go dropping bombs all over the world for decades and not expect to get bombed in return. If you thought 9/11 was bad, wait until we get paid back for what we are doing now.
I have a non-working old iBook which is in the expanded serial range. When it first stopped booting, I was told it would be $800+ to get the logic board replaced. Now I can get it fixed for free.
