  1. Just the start of something on Surfing on a Surfboard · · Score: 2, Interesting

It's a good idea, it's going to start of all bulky, and in time it will be scaled down. Anyone that lives at a prime surf spot, as I did. J-Bay, would like this sort of technology. I could catch some waves and if the boss called or I got some work that needed attention, I could read what it was and then decide to spoil my perfect surf session.

Surfing is something that you LOVE with a passion. Work sadly has to be done, and if I can avoid work by reading my mail and making choices out there on the backline waiting for the next set, then hell yeah, I'd do it.

Technology has to start somewhere. It's taken man how many years to build the 747 from the first flight, it's just a matter of time, before pda/pc surfboards are practicle.

It would be nice to see what is going on at other surf spots too, and to capture that perfect tube ride and email to friends, or post to site straight away.

    Thats my 2 cents worth.

Are you not listing, you are talking office as the software I'm talking office environment as in the physical office.

Most to all the programs needed by LOW level staff can be done with Linux. Low level staff DO NOT use specialized apps, if they do, it's rare and most of the time it's higher level staff that use such apps.

  3. Dumb and Dumber and then DVD dumb. on Yet Another Degrading DVD · · Score: 1

    What a stupid idea.

What happens if I get home, open the pack, then decide to take my girl-friend out for dinner instead. I get home, the DVD has 'expired', then what?

If this technology goes mainstream, piracy is going to grow rapidly, people are going to get highly pissed off. They will copy DVD's and then watch, or just download movies. It is a bad idea, abviously thought out by someone that knows nothing of watching movies.

What about 5 day specials from movie rental stores?

  4. Home or Office? on Windows Compatability on the Linux Desktop · · Score: 1

Let us all just get one thing straight. There is a major difference to people in an office running software to that of home users.

The majority of compatibility problems with this whole linux vs windows vs otherOS, have to do with applications that DO NOT have a place in an office environment. By saying office I mean office in the true sense of the word, admin to mid level office, not as design studio or higher management.

Office workers should not be playing games on their PC's. If you want to play games get a windows machine or a dual boot system.

To many people seem to have missed the plot.
