If you want a way to practice with out getting rid of your windows machine. You can also run a Gentoo or Knopix live CD. Just FYI that is until you can find some machines to get your lab up. Also what others have not let you know of some good Linux manuals. This is a book that is just perfect for what ever you do with linux. Our Linux developers use this book, and this book as an Admin is my favorite.
