Seems to me that Longhorn is just reproducing many of the features that were just released in OSX like spotlight and throwing in some transparency to pretty it up. I only use M$ products at work, but when they first announced all the new features that Longhorn would have it looked promising. To me it looks like they bit off more they can chew in the timeframe they commited to, hence the dropped/postponed features.
