Like I said, I highly doubt you will find ANYONE that thinks software written by a corporation for its own internal use and not distributed is called open source. Everything in those definitions you provided implies publicly available source code.
So if I don't factually look up how much I earn and just give an opinion on it, put that on my tax return, then that is protected free speech?
So back to the original post, we have a guy publishing information against the police, saying they are lying, perjuring, corrupt scumbags. These 'facts' can be easily proven or disproven in a court of law- these CANNOT be just opinions, and therefore are not covered under freedom of speech. Since the police filed a libel suit, they clearly think these allegations are false.
I don't think you know how the business world works, or what open source software is. OSS implies that anyone can go and get the source code to look at it. The definition of OPEN. If a corporation writes software for their internal use and choose not to distribute it, that does not mean it is open source.
Oh, right, it effectively nullifies the rest of the charter by including vague language about "reasonable limits"
This is NO different that the US. The US constitution on free speech does not give someone the right to break the law. For example it does not allow you to slander someone else, nor can you do something like lie on your tax returns. The right to free speech is bounded by other laws in both countries.
Ok, what about television and radio broadcast standards? In Canada, I can watch uncut movies on public air broadcast channels that contain violence and nudity. In the US, your broadcasts are under a required broadcast delay and censored when deemed inappropriate. Who in this case has more freedom of speech? Do you think ABC would ever get away with broadcasting nudity on a Friday night?
And the US constitution does not protect anyone from libel statements. There are limits to acceptable free speech in both countries.
The article summary just reeks of ignorance and bigotry.
Then according to that definition EVERYTHING is open source. I doubt you would convince my employer or anyone else that our software (or other corporate stuff like say nVidia's driver software, or the code for Windows) are open source.
Pretty much all in-house software (i.e. the stuff that about 90% of software developers are employed writing) is open source, it just only has one customer.
So you are saying that when I write software for my employer and it's locked up in their IP, then that's open source?? I don't think you know what open source is..
You're a complete fucking moron if you believe that. I could easily point out hundreds of things that don't cost money to create but are well worth the effort. You are NOTHING idiot.
Stop replying to me!! I'm not interested in your dick and I don't want you talking about mine, pervert. Does your wife know you are gay? Please leave me alone.
What they believe is that you are not allowed to say certain things, that you are not allowed to make certain images, that women have to wear certain clothes and not be educated, and a lot of other things, and they are determined to impose their beliefs on others. I cannot respect them for that. It is wrong and must be prevented. A way to prevent it is to exercise our rights over and over again, in their face, until they are habituated to it.
So what would that prove? Christian churches say that it is a sin to take the Lords name in vain. So to your logic, the only way to remove that believe is to walk around, probably in churches, swearing, saying 'fn god damn' as much as possible until the priests say ' oh, well I guess that was a stupid commandment, lets get rid of it'.?
Just because you don't believe in other peoples beliefs doesn't mean you should go around disrespecting them.
There's no law against either of those things, assuming that the manger and/or holy water belongs to the person taking a piss on it.
Yes, and there's no law about burning the Quran or any other holy book, nor did I say there was a law against it. I'm just pointing out how insulting and disrespectful it is.
Rackspace is an ISP and should be forced not to care about what happens on their network, unless it seriously disrupts operation.
Really ? You want an independent company to be FORCED to do business in a certain way? By government regulation? If it ever came to that with a company I owned, I'd pack up and leave. The government does not have the right to force a company to change their business policies if not illegal.
Not in this case, the constitution has no relevance. This is a violation of a private companies policy that they set and they get to decide what is acceptable.
So what? Do we just keep burning more of their stuff and they more of ours until there is nothing left?
Take the high ground and just let everyone else believe what they want to believe and respect them for it. If someone else is too immature to do that then that is their problem.
Like I said, I highly doubt you will find ANYONE that thinks software written by a corporation for its own internal use and not distributed is called open source. Everything in those definitions you provided implies publicly available source code.
So sleep costs you money? Don't be an idiot. You know you are wrong making blanket statements like that so just admit it and shut up.
So if I don't factually look up how much I earn and just give an opinion on it, put that on my tax return, then that is protected free speech?

Regulation of broadcast depends on the fact that it uses the public frequencies.
I'm talking about public, over the air broadcast in Canada. The fact is the US is highly regulated and censored and Canada is not.

Bullshit.

That was an example, moron. Read what I wrote.

TCP/IP stack and SMTP server were written with department of defense funding.
The first web server and browser were funded as a project by CERN
The first Kerberos implementation was closed source developed at MIT
The first NFS was written by Sun Microsystems.
Do you have any other examples of innovative OSS projects?
SPENDING TIME IS SPENDING MONEY
So how much does it cost you to sleep at night? Time is only money if you can or want to actually make money during that time.
He has at least five. He uses them to mod others down on his own posts.
What are you talking about? You have never pointed anything out that I was wrong about. Geez you really are psychotic aren't you?
You're a complete fucking moron if you believe that. I could easily point out hundreds of things that don't cost money to create but are well worth the effort. You are NOTHING idiot.
No, your word shouldn't be trusted because you are an idiotic lying fucking moron. Ass.

Seriously, stop replying to me about my sexual organs. I'M NOT INTERESTED. GO AWAY.
Not in this case, the constitution has no relevance. This is a violation of a private companies policy that they set and they get to decide what is acceptable.
Who gets to say what is hate speech ?
In this case, Rackspace does since it is their company and their policy.
So what? Do we just keep burning more of their stuff and they more of ours until there is nothing left?
