  1. Re:My picks on Shopping Online · · Score: 1

Much agreed. After spending a lot of time comparing prices for the last couple years as an equipment buyer for my company, I can almost always find the best deal on either newegg or zipzoomfly (formerly googlegear). The shipping terms are upfront with both, and with zipzoomfly, 2-day is almost always included.

  2. Re:Is Vonage the right person to sue? on Texas Attorney General Sues Vonage over 911 · · Score: 1

Vonage is very forthcoming about the fact that 911 must be set up prior to use.In addition to literature in the hardware they send you, it's very prominently displayed in the online account dashboard.

At some point, consumers should be expected to take responsibility for their actions. Save a few bucks on phone service? Be prepared to possibly sacrifice what could be critical 911 service.

I certainly hope this isn't a case of someone of legislative influence in baby bell's back pocket. VOIP has enough resistance as it is.

  3. Re:Common? Yes. Creative? eh... on Creative Commons Remix Contest · · Score: 1

I was actually referring to the 'quality' as how good the tracks were, not to the actual recording quality/production of the tracks. i realize this may be flamebait for some, but, in short, those are hardly what i would consider good material from any of those artists, with respect to what i've heard from any of the artists earlier catalog.

It just seems like maybe those tracks may have been considered throwaways or non-LP cuts that were released under CC because they may not have been considered commercially viable in the first place.

  4. Common? Yes. Creative? eh... on Creative Commons Remix Contest · · Score: 1, Flamebait

I can't figure out if I should really be so stoked that the artists on are really 'on the bandwagon' with CC licensing. It seems after a few spins of that disc that it's filled with cast-off and b-side quality material. If they're so hot on it, why no release some of the good stuff under CC?

  5. Re:Is it.. on Round-Up Ready Coca Plants · · Score: 1

The article in Wired alluded that the plants became more 'potent' because the glyphosate killed all of the non-resistant vegitation growing around the coca plants competeing for the same nutrients in the soil.

  6. Re:Solderless is *now* the way to go on Xbox Modchip Featuring Onboard Operating System · · Score: 5, Informative

The new Xenium adapter that allows you to connect the chip to the board is a much better design than the PS or even older Xbox ones. It can take a little more punishment and still remain connected. This is the real deal for those ham-fisted soldering iron amateurs who want to run unsigned code on the xbox.

  7. Commission on the Baystar Deal on Wired on McBride · · Score: 1

"...the hubris and combativeness of some of SCO's key players would soon make it all unravel. Anderer brazenly lobbied SCO for a commission on the Baystar deal, on the grounds that his contacts with Microsoft helped land the investment." - And this was after the fact! I assume Anderer's next move would be a suit against SCO claiming those M$ friends proprietary, thus making them liable for paying up. Moral - Hire an attorney to prove that your friends are closed source.
