That sounds like the keyboard that was on my first computer like toy. The Talking Computron, it was sold by Sears and contained many learning / teaching games.
One of my memories of playing with the computron was playing hangman with my Aunt. She had considerable trouble typing on it as she was used to the qwerty layout.
Now im going to have to go home and play with the Talking Computron over Christmas/Holiday break.
