The IT market is like a game of musical chairs. If you wind up without a chair when the music stops you're out. It doesn't matter how good you are or what angle you have. Its just tough these days.
Me, I'm thinking of retraining for teaching math.
I think the quality of the product / service you write with the tool is more important than the choice of tool. And no need to cut down others for it.
I can use the same brushes as Rembrant but that doesn't make me a flemish painter of the hightest order.
Remember when you had to BUY a sound card for your PC? What about paying $200 for modem card? NIC? Video card. Now you get the kitchen sink on most motherboards. And the components are pretty decent.
This seems to be par for the course. If the process can be put on a chip then function consolidation will surely follow.
