More often than not, the poor spend a far larger percentage of their income on their TV than the middle or upper class. I live in a 500k house and I only have one 32-inch HDTV (and it's a flat tube, not plasma or anything.) I can't tell you how many people who are obviously not well-off I see going over to Best Buy and getting a $2000 widescreen HDTV and probably paying the minimum on it for the rest of their lives. Many of my relatives are poor West Virginians, and, again, they all have bigger TVs than I do. You can afford alot of things when it's important enough to you.

  2. But does it really make a difference? on IE Developer Responds to Mozilla Accusations · · Score: 0, Insightful

IE may only use documented APIs, but isn't it how many APIs you use before it becomes "a part of the operating system"? If Firefox uses a handfull and IE uses so many it has its fingers curled around every nook and cranny of Windows, what difference does it make whether those nooks are documented or not? When you call enough OS APIs your app is as bulky as the OS itself, and we all know how well that works.

Except for people that want to keep their computers clean of software they don't use, and really like Outlook 2003. The number of professionals in programming, graphics, web, etc. who use FF and Outlook is probably far bigger than of those who use Tbird & Co.

I believe the character is the leader of the religious group we see in Milliways who are waiting for the second coming of Zarquon. This was gleaned from a semi-reliable source.

  5. Sorenson on Video Formats for non-Windows Users? · · Score: 0

Use Sorenson Squeeze (www.sorenson.com) for Quicktime, your files will be very high quality and astonishingly low in bitrate and overall size. For example, using Sorenson I have encoded medium-to-high motion videos at 360x240 with pristine audio quality and essentially little-to-no visible compression at about 3 megabytes per minute. If your application can allow for visible compression and low audio quality, you can easily get that down to 1mb/min.

Van Buuren is a cool guy. The electronic scene is no more pro-drug than the rock scene, and has much better music :-P
