I think that this is the only logical path really. The web is now being commercially exploited at an unprecedented rate . . . Why go to so-and-so's site if C|Net can pay for more exposure? Why send email to so-and-so if ZDNet has television shows for the sort of thing you're dealing with? This is an unfortunate inevitability IMO. We keep losing track of what's really important: communication. When commercialistic endeavors can crush small, but quality websites, it makes me wonder if the surfers, not the webmasters, should focus a little more on giving the little guy a chance. Especially when, trhough the web, the little guy can do a little more than a little.

Fucking excersise? Is that anything like getting laid? Horribly sorry sir, but you seem to be the incoherent one. Go ahead, do something mature, perhaps the activities mentioned on iMT.norad.net are more suited to your "grown-up" tastes?

Variety is the spice of life. If I have to see another stupid interview with another mindless open-shirted band lead I think I'll scream. And do you really think MTV would be receptive to thinkers or artists, given the general moronic intelligence level that seems to be the norm there? Hell, most of the people who responded to this topic probably don't know what pablum means. While I grant that general opinion on/. has a tendency to be either highly biased or polarized in the extreme, your analysis is quite biased, not to mention outright insulting, in and of itself. Why not take things into perspective here?

I feel that, while modern technology can enhance and improve games, many games like Quake, etc., use it to make the game. I suppose this was inevitable as the same has occured with many things--multimedia 'books' and learning materials have convinced many school boards that the "wave of the future" is here, unfortunately, all that most of this multimedia 'learning material' did was replace some good textbooks (and bad teachers) with the same glitz that's eating the gaming industry alive. My sincere hope is that we as gamers will lend our ears to games that may seem unorthodox, odd, and downright insane. I realize that this is unlikely, but you know, there are INTELLIGENT gamers out there. I even happen to believe that they (we, if you count me as being intelligent) are the majority, if the less boistrous fraction. The general attitude on this topic seems somewhat contrastful to the one that was upheld when the post was made about the media conducting a survey to see if gamers actually had lives. To tie this all together, we need to support originality and creativity--to prove to the industry that it's the major selling point. I honestly believe that if we can achieve that goal, the managers will take a few steps back and let the true professionals handle things.

I wish more people felt this way . . . The gaming industry is a race for the most glitzy graphics, the fastest code, the most realistic sound . . . Unfortunately, true innovations in this albeit volatile area are entirely seperate from the code, the graphics, and the sound. True innovations, the ones that you and I enjoy, are concepts.
