He didn't really. He's not talking about multiple (well defined) languages compiling to a common intermediate language, he's talking about a "language" that would drive a parser-writer insane..NET is nice because you can choose the language you prefer to write in and still use the same framework class library, but the languages have to be well-defined in order for the code to parse properly. This open-ended approach would be a parsing nightmare.
