I was led to believe that English has five times as many words as French and three times as many as German, although I don't know to what extent technical terms contribute to this. It is certainly not a small language, although it may seem to be from reading /. From what I have read here 'unsettling' might be a possible translation of unheimlich, or 'unnerving'.
