ahh ok. It just seemed like you were wishing for this ability with the next xbox, and asking about functionality of the current one. Since I'm not that familiar with PVR (just don't have one yet), I don't have much to say about that. But with current announcements pertaining to the next xbox, it would not seem unlikely that it will have XPMC or something similar built in. They are already saying that all periphrials for the next xbox will work on the pc without the need for modification, and people are speculating that games will be playable on both pc and xbox2(or whatever it will be called: Xenon, XboxNext, NextBox,...)

There really is no reason to use WindowsXP Media Center on it (which you can't) unless you need to play DRM'd music/movies which the much better Xbox Media Center can't play. http://xboxmediacenter.de/
This player will play almost any format you can throw at it, and in addition, will play/record shoutcast streams, can connect to SMB/Samba servers, and various other networked devices for streamed media. Hell, it even gives you a weather forecast at the click of a button, and the ability to check the IMDB database about a movie before you view it. Also you can use sync correction for any files that are slightly out of sync. All of these things are just off the top of my head, but there are many more such as HDTV support, etc. And all you need to do is add a on/off switch to the modchip and you can play any xbox games, including on Xbox Live.
To answer your question about larger harddrives, the xbox can handle any size hard drive you want to throw at it. It was once limited to 137GB but this has since been corrected in the newer bioses.
Funny, I'll give you that. But that's about it. Honestly, would it be on Berkely's site if it didn't exist? I think not. How about this article from the San Francisco Chronicle detailing the sexist attitude of the club that doesn't exist... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2 004/07/18/SFCLUBS.TMP
All I was saying is that it gets very little press for the kind of event it is, and nearly all of this press is in California. Its kind of hard to tell people it doesn't exist when they can just drive there and see it.

"It's nice to know the media is deciding what to let through and what to report "in our best interest"."
Once upon a time the media was a friend to the public and a threat to the government. Now the media is controlled by so few companies that the government and media may as well be one in the same.
The blatent censorship is painfully obvious as well. Just check out how much coverage is given to the meetings at Bohemian Grove in Northern California. Hundreds of the most powerful and richest men in the world meet there yearly. This includes Dubbya and many others in high power. Why is this event not all over the news? If three baseball players fart at the same time, you can be assured it will plaster the newspapers. But when world leaders gather to discuss policies and do whatever else, there is nearly no news coverage at all. Hmm...
Thomas Jefferson knew how important media is to a true democracy when he stated he ""would rather have newspapers without government than government without newspapers."
I tested plenty of things in 3 much smaller communities than windsor. It found many results; often a few more than the local yellowpages. Seeing as a search for "plumber" in Windsor, ON gives over 15 pages of google results, and the second result is in Windsor (not Detroit), did u really go through all of the pages? I doubt it, but there are many more results in Detroit, that I agree with. It is a familiar interface though, so skipping through those 15 pages wouldn't take that long if you needed something.
This is not likely Google's fault though, I'm sure the Detroit pages that get spidered, happen to have Windsor somewhere on their page, hence they are listed. Maybe a better algorithm could help, but I'm not sure how that type of thing could effectively be filtered (if its even possible).
I just don't think you can make the "Doesn't Work" comment just because you live in a border city where this problem would actually occur. Its kind of like saying that cell phones don't work because they have problems in certain areas.

Well then again, if I was a world leader, and doing stuff like this http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/FindingAids/dynaweb/ca lher/bohemian/figures/I0025343B.jpg I would be inclined to tell my media buddies to keep it hush, hush as well. A bit of research and an open mind is all it takes to see things are seriously wrong.

Oops, I know that I for one am far too lazy to ctrl+c/ctrl+v just to see a link. Lets try this again :P http://www.thetoque.net/031118/internetdown.htm
I strongly advise printing out http://www.thetoque.net/031118/internetdown.htm/ in case of just such an emergency. It could be the difference between life and death. DD
