You have a point. However, I would think they will only target one browser anyway, or at most two since it is not wise to attack every browser. Having more browser would reduce their income and make them target the easiest browser (both security wise and easier for social engineering).
solar cells are more or less like light sensors apart from the sense that solar cells don't need power to operate while light sensors does (for amplification).
i do agree with your point about comparing OO on both windows and linux but in most cases, I can only see M$ office when the computer is running windows. I would think both are a fair comparison.
i actually prefer it to be made private....for a particular amount of time before making public.
imagine, making a bug public can let more people solve the bug at the same time but also let hackers to exploit it. Making the bug on the other hand would slow down the patching process abit but systems are less vunerable. The bug won't exist forever in Linux since linux programmer aren't CEO like in M$ where money is their main motivation (which makes their programmer spend more time on features than fixing bugs, leading to bugs not fixed for months). they WILL patch a system asap so this won't be an issue.
However, if the bug is critical, making the bug private for, say a week, before going public would enable the developers to fix the bug. Only if the bug can't be fixed easily then it would be opened for others to help fixing it. This would make the machines in the wild less vunerable and also system patches quickly.
remember, Bill is just a person while M$ is a company. He doesn't need to donate 50% from his treasure to say he is generous. He DID help those children out no matter how small a portion from his pocket that is. Also most of his money are in shares which he would have to sell them to get the cash. I wonder how many rich would do the same.
kb=kilo bit is the speed your ISP provide you with so as the modem spec like 56k modem
kB=kilo byte and 1 byte = 8 bit. for my connection (512kb ADSL), my theoretical download limit is 64kB but I can usually only get up to 54kB. Upload limit, however, half that value.
Depending what your connection is but your download speed doesn't sound too slow
ok, I didn't RTFA. But just wondering if it takes into account how both men and women handle stress, likelyhood of enjoying tackling problems, how each sex concentrate and how long both studies.
I do agree men are better in logics, and maybe thats the reason being better in maths? But women could as well concentrate better than men, so why would men be better in maths?
I just think it is hard to define which sex is better in maths. Please correct me if I am wrong
If each % CPU brings them 10 dollar more per hour, that would be a reason why they don't want to limit the resources. And I think the main problem is whether there are enough resource to handle request (ok, I didn't RTFA) but they are losing ALOT of money when their customers can't access them
there was once a/. story stating one of the hash method is not as "perfect" as expected, giving the same hash for two different files. Can someone post the/. story to back me up? In that way, they can't charge the patent on that algorithm since it does not satisfy "unique identifiers to identify data items"
I personally would trust firefox autoupdate since at least it won't break things. In the worse case, I can uninstall the whole thing or reinstall. My window box is still in SP1 since I am not confident my hardware drivers would work under SP2
Why do people move to linux? Is it because of linux is a better OS? or is it because they got better application? I would think its the former.
If I move because of the OS, why would I want to sat behind in window if I will be using the same app in both OS anywa?
So far, I still think window got better apps, variety etc. (I might be wrong since I am not up to date) it doesn't make much difference to make one more choice available for people who is using window (they won't know such app exist in linux if they dont use linux anyway). On the other hand, if people are interested in moving but worry about the app, they could otherwise be a resistance for people to switch.
I would like to see the day when US could pressure China to do something. And if that's the case, the first thing would be on IP rather than spam since that is the thing which directly hurt economy...

if you are talking about extension, you can do so in tools->extension.
If you are talking about plugin such as program associate with wmv files, go to tools->options->downloads->plugins (bottom right)
if you want to disable java, go to tools->options->web features and uncheck "enable java"

/. has cost US companies $220Billion per year due to loss of productivity

i dont think its the tracker that is doing the uploading and downloading of data or else it would have a really hard time to cope with the bandwidth
and if it is how it works, it just make **AA's life easy to only go after the trackers
change to another bank :)

sue google for providing links to warez/mp3 site
o...they won't since google are way richer than those torrent tracker hosts

imagine you are one of those poor sap who now gets 300 bounce mail a day instead of spam
that is very appealing, huh?
calling from voip to regular phones or just other voip?
if its voip to regular land lines, fair enough. If it's voip to voip, what's the point of paying them when we can get them free like skype?
