If they allowed that, then all the people like myself who don't play all the time, but have reasonably high level characters, would delete their accounts, wait 55 days, open account again and delete it again.
How much money do you think an established MMORPG make from people reluctant to delete their characters? One of my friends kept his original UO account open for a year and a half before finally deleting it. That's a big chunk of change for however many kb's of server space and the zero bandwidth required to maintain it.
But OSX isnt a direct competitor to Solaris. Sun's new big push appears to be away from SPARC and over to x86and this is the domain of Windows, Linux and Solaris. It is therefore no direct threat to them as an OS supplier.
To use OSX you must buy apple, and as much as i'd love to with "sexy" hardware and slick intefaces, the best I can afford is an iPod. If the users can't afford it, they will have no experience with it, so PHBs prob wont issue a directive to use it.
If you are buying new then there are no probs anyway - most modern motherboards come with bios' capable of booting straight from usb media.
Hell, I could boot off my digicam, if i felt like it.
Even flashing bios' isn't a real problem any more with dual bios machines.
Don't paint England as Britain. I live in Inverness and here the pubs are open to half-twelvish (maybe later depending if there are any police around) through the week and till 2am at weekends - 3am if its the clubs. And when you get this far north, blocked roads are rarely a problem and it has some of the lowest popn density in the country.
