    because logic aside, we evolved to look at stuff horizontally. this is why our monitors have more horizontal space.

    the vertical bar clashes with our (my) notion of what looks 'right.'

    (but all in all there is a reason so much stuff gets done in VBA, development costs on proper apps would be in many cases prohibitive)

    If Microsoft pushed and update to disable this stuff, that would be, well, entertaining.

Will note though, to fulfill this years quota of nice things I'll say about Microsoft, that if you buy a PC from their store (or online store) it won't come with all of the 3rd party ad-ware that would come with the exact same model PC bought elsewhere. Will still come with the Microsoft ad-ware, but a vast improvement none the less.

  16. My desktop was not the same after the rollback. Broken and missing shortcuts, etc. Who knows what else.

  17. Apps get around 5 minutes to finish off what they're doing. That's it.

    The exceptions would be apps that need to be running in the background - e.g., audio players, navigation apps and VoIP apps.

    Yes, also my app utilizes full end to end encryption. The exceptions being three letter gov't agencies and corporate legal teams that need access for security reasons. But that's it.

    Getting 85% of Windows 7 users to upgrade doesn't mean they can stop supporting it, and supporting one copy of an OS is (unless I'm somehow mistaken) just as expensive as supporting a billion copies.

    Had kind of assumed this to be the case for a while, inevitable I guess. Hundreds of millions of dollars going in without any shareholders to answer to demanding dividends etc. Sure to attract the type you're ranting about like moths to a flame. Shame really.
