I'm Quite sure in numerous recent interviews of Linus, when asked about groklaw he has only supported them. The mention of the Linux community bveing against groklaw and that they hide be hind people makes it obvious that it is probably not real and is simply a troller or he is a very very uninformed person who is not even remotely grounded in reality. This whole thigns seems to be fud, unless he really is that stupid, but id like to believe there is no human being as stupid as the person who wrote the post.
I think we need ot pull and inerspace type thing, where we can inject a remote control meaneature vesel that can relay video signals of what it sees and has simple lasers or simply hot electrodes. I think this could easily be made into a fun and amusing way to fight diseases and to internal surgery by simply have a person swallow a pill and then the Dr can play some FPS inside you body. Perhaps different visual reference coudl be created so when you are doing some micro seuters it can be represented by your repairing a hole in the side fo a space station or something.
I think out main problem is a major lack of Govt invovlement. Something liek broad band is somethign that should almost be like the US postal service and none cable TV. It is something that has become extremely important for communications and buissness. Many buisnesses and colleges consider e-mail to be just as necessery to be checked every day as it is to check your mailbox at your house. The US Govt should either make start makeing a fiber network of their own through out the US or begin a mass public funding effort aswell as providing subsidies. Also they shoudl relax some censorship. I think the idea is also great to make fully wireless cities like Philidelphia is thinking of and cleveland has done quite a good job at so far with their cleveland one network.
I think the perfect PDA would be:
-Linux or NetBSD based
-Full color screen with a back light that can be turned on and off
-Able to play Divx movies
-64mb min of ram
-Have it mostly cf based (OS lies on a cf and have wireless capabilities through cf)
-One sd slot
-Possibly have an ethernet adapter built in.
-full size head min DIN head phone and Line in jacks.
-A usb 2.0 port
cant think o fmuch else but it shoudl be able to handle my schedules, mp3 listening, occasional video's for long lectures, and be able to be used to ssh and vnc into other computers.
