I know this is barely on topic, but why doesn't the title of Cringley's latest article show up in the slashbox any more? I liked having a new title appear to remind me to go check out his latest musings.
Perhaps, I'm just dreaming and the title was never there... it's been one of _those_ days...
Well, if I could copy Microsoft at will I'd have fewer copies of their crap than I do now... I'm real sure it wasn't my will that put it on all the computers I've bought in recent history.
To pull this back on topic... what IP exactly are they trying to license?
That's one very unfriendly link... at least for for my old Communicator 4.72 browser... [poof--where'd my browser go?] guess I'll have to wait until I get home from work to see what was on that page...
It seems likely that anyone that writes code that runs on platforms other than windows would have the cryto stuff in their code already... why would they want to add an extra #ifdef just to use the buggy stuff from MS?

But it is another advantage to having a monopoly... =)
I don't know... HP put XP on my new laptop and I get to watch it reboot at least once a day... and when I let it install the last update it put itself in a state where it couldn't even shutdown properly... I'm not impressed... if I could only find the time to compile Xfree86 v4.1, the theory says I'll be able to run X on Linux with this new hardware and not have to worry about Windows eXtra Pathetic...
Now if I can only find my list of Dubbo jokes... doesn't really surprise me that a STUPID criminal would end up in Dubbo though...
I'm not from Dubbo (or even Australia), but my ex-wife was...
It is a pretty nice zoo considering it's out in the middle of nowhere.
