have 2 SanDisk multi card readers (different models) and ubuntu 7.04 (on several machines)
* boot and login
* plug card reader in
* file manager opens immediately giving access to the contents of whatever is plugged into the reader
nb: I do not have to wait a few seconds for a window to pop and ask me what to do with the newly
discovered item that I get in win on my 1 dual boot machine. it simply gives me access to the data
and the opportunity to do with it what I want
*done
True, but not entirely accurate.
In ubuntu "sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" does indeed give you the KDE wm, or rather the choice of either Gnome or KDE and you pick which from the "sessions" when you log-in to ubuntu. Additionally, since the choice only effects which wm you have for a session and the underlying sytem remains the same, you can use both Gnome and KDE apps under either wm.
same here ... T42 and older 600x (which I still have and still runs linux flawlessly)
