You must not have a problem with people not responding to your e-mails. I only send read receipts to two co-workers, because they never respond to my e-mails, are rarely available to answer the phone and they're in a different state, which makes walking to their cubicle a little difficult.
It's a CYA thing for me. Obviously read receipts can be overused but they do come in handy in some situations.
