A bunch of ISPs (AOL included) by default set their user's browser to use a proxy server where each request through the proxy goes out with a random IP from a pool of IPs. It's incredibly annoying from a developer standpoint.
One little work-around to this problem, though, is to only check the first two bytes of the IP address. Definitely not a foolproof solution, since it won't usually stop abuse from people on the same ISP, but it's a bit better than nothing.
But then there's the matter of people using a list of anonymous proxies on different ISPs..
Being that the Metreon is a "Sony Entertainment Center", lets hope the results of these awards aren't influenced by Sony-developed or Sony-exclusive titles.
Since the voting doesn't seem to be working at the moment (and the rest of the site is lacking details), does anyone know the specifics of the "Lifetime Achievement" award? Is that going to a company, or a certain developer/creator, or a game series?
C'mon, what's a videogame review without screenshots? Here's some for the curious, courtesy of IGN.. http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/716/716651/imgs_1.h tml
