  1. draft, education, etc on Libertarian Candidate Michael Badnarik Interview · · Score: 1
HR 182 was indeed called to the floor and shot down 402-2, however, I would like to point out that Senate Bill 89, which is identical to HR 182 in wording, has been referred to the Committee on Armed Services, and I presume it is being tabled til after the elections. In the interview Mr. Badnarik is making the point that if both democrats and republicans are serious about not reinstating the draft then they should repeal the selective service legislation.

I thought this was a pretty good article, and it sure seems to have sparked a lot of debate among slashdotter's regarding libertarian beliefs vs socialist arguments for the 'common good'. If nothing else, Badnarik has advanced the LP just by creating this kind of debate, and getting people to think about how the government is supposed to work.

    Voting Rights Act of 1971 42 U.S.C. 1971

No person acting under color of law shall . . . deny the right of any individual to vote in any election because of an error or omission on any record or paper relating to any application, registration, or other act requisite to voting, if such error or omission is not material in determining whether such individual is qualified under State law to vote in such election.

Blackwell's solution to the pesky problem of people wanting to vote is to institute the most draconian state election laws possible. It makes me wonder if it's possible to have a truely fair election here in my home state.

Happily planning to vote for Badnarik, the Libertarian... I mean, the "OTHER PARTY" candidate. ;)

Assuming, of course, that my polling place hasn't changed, I can find the new one if it has, and that I can get there before it closes.

One of these days, Im going to get fairly active in politics, probably libertarian

Well, why not today? Today would be a good day to get active. In fact, anyday up to Nov. 2 would be a good day to get active. ;)

I too would love to watch a real debate, over real issues, with live questions from real people, as opposed to that scripted and staged propaganda crap they'd like us to eat.

Happily voting for Badnarik in OH

A vote for them is a vote for more of the same. If you are in a swing state and trying to choose between the lesser evil, I sympathize. If you are not in a contested state and you don't vote for the person you think is the best or the direction you want things to move, you get what you vote for - more of the same.
So... Do you get what you voted FOR if the only reason you went to the polls was to vote AGAINST? ;)

I agree. The lesser of two evils is still evil. I for one, am sick and tired of voting for one evil against another evil, so this year I am voting for what I believe. It's also the first time I feel that my vote will actually count for something.

Happily voting for Badnarik in OH
