Why dont these companies(Micro*,Sony) understand?

Xbox 360 Very Unstable

Its a pitty when a college going student works overime to invest into something kewl(Microsoft XBOX 360,Sony PSP).Later, he finds out that the newest piece of coolest equipment is faulty. As mentioned earlier the heating problems of XBOX360 along with few other errors. In case of Sony PSP, many people have found dead pixels on their screen . In return sony says
"Note:P.115 PSP manual: "LCD screens are made with high quality precise technology, but in some cases, black, red, blue or green spots may remain on the screen. This is not a malfunction".
What the hell! They have covered the story and a person can do nothing abt it.
As you may recall when u get a new laptop and the maunal will say the same. However, the laptop companies gurantees that if u get more than 3 bad pixels the product will be replaced.
But in case of sony its a complete rip off. In case of XBOX 360 let's hope something better happens(fingers crossed but i'm in doubt).
There is a need to understand that a product should be throughly tested and presented to the customer. SONY Listen up!!
Well its a novel way of promoting and selling your product. The fact that you are putting music and selling it on USB is somewhat open to debate in terms of audio quality. Why should I go for mp3 recording when better CD quality is avaliable. However, u can use the USB disk later for some other purposes but the capacity is limited to 128 MB. U can get higher capacity for little more. Moreover, most of the people wont be able to use this idea in their cars and stereo systems.
I have tried to run both my Netgear cards WG511v1 and WG511v2 on Suse 9.3. Version one works pretty well as Suse has in built support for the prism chipset. Earlier, It wasnt working properly as i was using some other driver. I have used prism54s driver(http://prism54.org/ but failed. However, for the version 2 card having Marvel chipset i used ndiswrapper to get it working. Not to mention I tried using every other possibilites as well.
Using Ndiswprapper was easy and no special configurations were required.
All in all I would like to say for a user who is not well versed with linux. its difficult for him/her to follow. I would really like to divert the attention of companies like Netgear to provide driver support for Linux as well.
I hate the fact that a small ball rolls on my table which has nuthin to do with my coding. It takes up space and does nuthin except stare at me while i keep on using my keyboard.
Wish graphics and art designing could be done with keyboards!!;-)
SNMP? what is SNMP ? Well SNMP is a "big thing" in the networking environment where all the big players develop their applications based on it for example Network Management Systems.
SNMP has evolved from time to improving from one version to another from data retrival to security. Well its a well establised phenomenom and no one can change it in a day as most of the big fish in this business rely on it to satisfy their appetite.
Lots and lots of work is undergoin specially in SNMPs 3rd version as most of the companies have not established their products with version 3 support. It has proved to be an invaluable entity in my NMS and other NMSs in the market. Take for exampe those net-snmp guys they have done some tremendous using snmp support(visit:www.net-snmp.org) for more details. I really think SNMP has still got immense potential to be on the top provided some more research is undertaken.
Well , what can I say I am learning from the scratch for past 1 year now and my friend is right some of the books require atleast one semester to get well versed. I have experienced it myself.....
Starting from basics of each and every layer and then moving to real concepts like packet formation , transportation. It takes too much time. In the later stages when you get hang of it you then realise the true power of data exchange.
I think book learning has to be transformed into practical knowledge which in many universities in India is missing except for the IITs etc. Students like me who are not from these premier institutes suffer a lot because on one hand you are reading from the book about the cables, Network Management concepts etc etc and on the other hand you dont have equipments to try your concepts.
Moreover, I have realised specially in this field if you havent work on equipments and have practical knowledge you cannot learn the way you should. Example : - How can person configure a vlan on a switch if he havent seen one in his entire college years. How can he later uses MIBs to configure the switch.
I strongly believe the books should be eaiser to understand and focus should be made on practical knowledge so that a person could get real knowledge.
PHDs specially today are playing vital part in development of systems that are goin to be the future be it networking or real time systems.
However, people who do PHD chooses academics so that they can find time for their respected research and to really focus on it!! I think if you have an aptitude to study and like to work on lots of hardware you should opt for PHD as it will definately help u stand out in a queue.
As according to the current trends that i see There is lots and lots of work to be undertaken and people who know what they are doing are required be it any field.
Moreover there are quite a few doors opening in the IT sector who require high tech research for example Mobile Agents etc etc.
