Raise the minimum wage to $10 per hour for all persons over 18, $7.50 for ages 16-17, and $5 for 14-15 year olds.

For every hour of labor sent overseas, force the company to pay $10 to the government for the person who doesn't get the job.

Now *that* will create jobs in America.

    Nick,
Buy a game console and ditch Windows. Games for consoles are cheaper, and you're not losing any performance. Heck, you can pick old PSX games up for a song and you can rent console games. It's a much better way to enjoy gaming, and you get to take control of your PC back. And you get your games on a nice, big TV, which are way cheaper than a nice, big monitor.

Trust me; for college you need a PC you can rely on, one that you're not going to be troubleshooting when you should be working. For someone who knows about computers, Linux is already there.

    2) At some point we're going to have to send people to Mars or start a eugenics program before the surface of the planet becomes packed with people. Why not go now when we have resources to spare?

Okay, it has emissions. But it does have very benign emissions; water and heat, though probably a similar amount of heat as an IC engine.

And to keep it from being a gas, you could add a condenser to the exhaust and harness the fuel back.

Heck, with regenerative braking, you could electrolize the water and get more hydrogen back out, extending the range.

If the goal is to go there and get back in 90 days, I bet you could do it with only enough fuel to get there, then slingshot around Mars and head straight back to Earth.

Now a really good bet would be to get to Mars, pick up a rock or leave something, then return.

    Yes.

Drugs: Make marijuana legal. Tax it at 100%. Provide free cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamines to those already addicted and help them through drug treatment programs.

Filesharing: Break up the RIAA and MPAA. Let independent filmmakers and musicians license their own works, and make money off of their performances. Yeah, it's less glamorous, but you get better music.

Terror: Switch to non-fossil fuels by creating a new Apollo Program to get controlled nuclear fusion, and switch to hydrogen fuel cells. Pull out of the Middle East and let the ultra-violent fundies there nuke each other. Also, disband all multi-national corporations, which is another thing the fundies don't like.

I disagree. They are life. Life doesn't have a beginning or an ending, it is a continuum. The sperm in my testicles are alive, as is the egg in my wife. If I go home and get her pregnant, the sperm and egg don't just die and then come back to life; they continue to be alive and react in such a way to make a new thing that is also alive.

The difference is, where do we draw the line for "humanity?" A zygote is not human. It has the potential to be a human. Each one of us must draw the line individually, based on our own beliefs. I believe that if the fetus can live outside the mother and is not a threat to her health, abortion should not be an option. But that's my belief, and only I and my wife need to worry about that.
