Yeah, whether Microsoft actually decides to TURN OVER the source in it's ENTIRETY is doubtful. And if it were done, Whoever buys the source will probably be swallowed by Microsoft anyway.

Seriously, there would be more than one section of bandwidth scales. One for consumers, and one for companies. Joe Netsurfer isn't gonna have a T3 hookup in his house (Though there ARE exceptions), and I certainly don't know of any personal user that has one of Lucent's Trans-Oceanic 10GB/Sec Lines piped into his Home LAN. Damn, That's not a bad Idea.

Let's see....If you turn off the Serial Number in your new PIII, You can't view PIII content, which means you basically bought the equivilant of a slightly faster PII. BUT, if you turn ON the Serial Number, you hand your privacy over to Intel in a Gift-Wrapped box.

I think I can live without Intel's marketing crap.

As for the Playstation II, I don't find it very interesting. A computer can do far more than a Game Console anyway. I must admit, Linux running on a Playstation WOULD be very interesting, but it's not enough to get me to run out and buy one. I'll take a well-equipped PC over a Game System any day.

Maybe 'Not well known' was the wrong choice of words. The point I was trying to make was that the VooDoo2 hasn't saturated the market. The same thing happened with Intel. They introduced the Pentium Line, and that exploded. Next came the Pentium II, and almost on the PII's back follows the PIII. Intel should have held off a while till releasing the PIII, becuase the PII isn't that widespread yet. That was my point with the VooDoo2.

  22. The United States of America on FCC Decides ISP Calls are Long-Distance · · Score: 1

You know, I used to like this country. Don't get me wrong, I'm patriotic, I respect the foundations that America has been built on. However, I no longer respect the people put in charge to enforce those foundations. The society we live in is now revolving around the dollar. It's now gotten to the point where even the Government doesn't care about the people, but are only interested in getting a hefty paycheck.

The way I see it, is that the FCC has a theroritical monopoly over communication in the United States. Granted, this is a Federal bureau, however If the FCC was a business (which it looks to me like that's what it has turned into) this would constitute a monopoly. They are THE Federal Communications Commission. There is no alternative to them. You are Forced to abide by what they say and that's it. (This also brings up the point of multiple governments, but that's stupid, so let's not get into that. This is an EXAMPLE.)

Just my opinion here. I think it's bullshit what the FCC is trying to pull. Time to get your word processor out and start writing bitch letters. I Intend to do so. Peace.
