No offense, but do you really think your stuff is THAT important to others? Maybe it's just because I'm 21 and invincible!!! but all this seems overkill to me for a personal machine. I feel fine on my XP machine over a measly 128-bit WEP wireless connection and NAT router. And uh-oh, I even have some ports forwarded for games, P2P, and HTTP! AHH!! I think some of this paranoia is just a matter of self-importance. Who's gonna take the time to h4x0R my box to get a big load of nothing?....he asks, not really wanting to know....
I'm not sure it's possible to rip WMV9, DRM or not. I've actually got this disc, and before I clicked the article I was thinking, "wonder if this compares to the T2 I have." Heh. I was really pissed off when I had to install InterActual.... Once you have the license you can play it in WMP, and I would have MUCH less of a problem if it wasn't a temporary license.
Sorry, I meant as far as the distributed processing goes. Like if you had another PS3 networked, or your fridge or TV or whatever they're going to try to stick the Cell in. Is their processing power worth the time to send the data, and would it make it back in time?
Except when you install Winamp you can choose what to install or not (cd-burning, video playback ability) and what files to associate with. If anything makes it slow now it's the modern skins, and you can change it back to use the classic 2.xx ones...which it also allows you to do when you install it.

Yeah it's not like anyone uses clients other than the original Mainline. Oh wait...

I'm still wondering about the real-time uses of this, i.e. PS3. Latency becomes a huge issue when you're trying to render a frame every 16ms.
