Most studies have found that reading from paper is faster than reading from computer screens. Muter, et al. [1982] showed that reading from TV screens took 25% longer than from paper, but produced roughly equal comprehension scores. Wright and Lickorish [1983] also found that paper was faster. Gould and Grischkowsky [1984] studied subjects performing an eight hour proof reading task. They found that work was more rapid on paper, with slightly higher quality than on personal computers. Our own experiments verified these results and extended them to positional memory and various alternate computer conditions.

Well Mr. Dutch guy, now I am curious. Is Mr. Theo Van Goth not truly dead? Are all of those European papers wrong about events in the Netherlands? It is common for people to be poorly informed about events even in their own country. Are you quite sure that I'm the one who is wrong, and about what? You don't have to be afraid of Muslims to understand that many of them reject your values. In the long term that will have consequences. Many people prefer to not think about that.
One guy? You think that's all this is about? I suggest you go back and do more reading, you aren't getting it. I suppose there is no rush though. The Netherlands, like a growing number of countries in Europe, has a big problem brewing that won't being going away soon, if ever. If you can't see it today, you will someday.
No genuine disparagement of Latvians intended, just a reference to the article, and a joke. The Latvians are a fine people, too long oppressed by the Soviet Union, but who are now building a modern free state. I wish both them and you well.
Having written that, you may want to view the link as well.
Going back to the wiretapping, it also has been common knowledge that its a unhealthy ammount in The Netherlands, but for some reason it has never upset people enough,...
"Persons of Interest" are people connected with the inquiry at hand. They would be trying to find terrorists talking to their leadership hierarchy, as well as suppliers and active supporters. They aren't trying to find who is popular on the cocktail circuit.
The real question isn't who is connected to terrorists, but rather, "Who are the terrorists and their support network?"
The intelligence agencies are not going to be much interested in accumulating every possible association, but rather in narrowing it to the people of interest for the purpose at hand. If I knew the pilot that flies Prime Minister Cameron and his guests, I could be connected to many of his guests with 2 hops. Lets say one of those guests was Angela Merkel. Anyone that cared to look would realize that I did not in fact know or have any influence with Angela Merkel. It would also become obvious pretty quickly that I don't communicate with her. The "connection" may technically exists or be possible, but as a practical matter it is pointless.
I will also point out that when traversing a hierarchical organization, 6 hops doesn't necessarily get you to the top.
As of December 2012, a factsheet from the center states, TIDE contained over 875,000 entries. Each one represents a known or suspected terrorist and includes all their known aliases and spelling variations on their name, the official said.
Less than one percent, or fewer than 9,000, were Americans, including both citizens and legal permanent residents, he said, adding the center does not release exact numbers.
So if there are only 9,000 known or suspected terrorists in the US out of 310,000,000+ Americans, how much impact is that likely to have? I wouldn't necessarily expect terrorists to be highly connected to people outside of their purpose.
The rest of that stuff, you are correct that it is wrong, but congratulations because you also made it up.
Care to point out the stuff I "made it up?"
Then again, if we can lose our 4th amendment protections by association, one must question what other civil rights are subject to forfeiture by association.
That is assuming that 4th Amendment protections have been lost. Have they?
No, even if you are one of them it is still a small portion of the total population. And you do realize that known or suspected terrorists amount to only about 9,000 people out of 310,000,000 in the US, both citizens and residents, right? Chances are you've doing something special to be listed with that 9,000 people in the US.
You are trying to connect to highly connected people with good connections associated with your own culture. (More generally, the West.) Now try figuring out your connectivity to Bin Laden through his covert channels. Are you going to make that in three leaps? I doubt that most people in the West would.
Apparently it is also America, land of the people that don't bother to read: "Less than one percent, or fewer than 9,000, were Americans, including both citizens and legal permanent residents"
As to being the, "land of the fearful and cowardly," the US is still home of the brave, but it is also home to plenty of cranks as well. So, when were you planning to emigrate?
That is quite a rare insight you have, how did you ever come up with it? I hope you didn't bang you head on anything when the idea struck you. Does your insight account for the fact that the NSA wouldn't be especially interested in random food delivery services whose only function is to bring pizza or curry for pay? Do you think they are really interested in mapping the social arrangements of innocent Pizza Hut employees? The population of the world isn't organized into platoons, but the world's militaries tend to be. The worlds terrorist groups also tend to be organized as well. The NSA would be highly interested in identifying a terrorist chain of command, as well as any covert supply and funding channels. Did that occur to you? Didn't think so. You apparently see no purpose, just random activity.
You really think that after all this country has been though, we're going to fall (or even worse: "...the citizens [die]") because of a few incompetent fools with explosive underwear and pressure cookers?
It is often asserted that there are no stupid questions. Here we see that assertion falsified - the proof is completed by contradiction. QED
Nobody thinks the 300 million person United States of America is going to fall because of a pressure cooker bomb here or there. Frankly it amazes me that you would even broach the subject. You've demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of the subject. On the other hand, it is conceivable that thousands of people could be killed per individual attack if the chemical weapons being used in Syria are stolen by al Qaida and smuggled into the US for use at carefully planned targets. Al Qaida is also seeking nuclear and biological weapons. The US wouldn't fall, but would experience considerable difficulties if a major city were attacked with nuclear weapons, or possibly biological weapons. 9/11 caused about 100,000,000,000 in damages to the US economy, and that was only 1 building complex destroyed, 1 building damaged, and 4 airlines destroyed. (Admittedly the buildings were unusually important.) What do you think would happen if all of downtown Manhattan were destroyed by a nuke, or became ground zero for use of a highly infectious and lethal biological agent?
Maybe things are different now, maybe not.

It might also depend on where the valet parking is, and if it presents a useful opportunity.
There isn't even the pretense of a public safety issue with a car parked at the airport.
Nothing like a car bomb then?
Only 9,000 or so of the 875,000 are US citizens or residents.
A New Jersey Supreme Court ruling probably won't have much effect on the NSA.
I suppose I should point out that this is just another instance of metadata analysis gone awry.
"Persons of Interest" are people connected with the inquiry at hand. They would be trying to find terrorists talking to their leadership hierarchy, as well as suppliers and active supporters. They aren't trying to find who is popular on the cocktail circuit.

Noting some key facts about the US terrorist watch list:
Terror watch list grows to 875,000

I can't believe 9/11 turned us into such a bunch of pussies.
You seem to have no useful insights to offer on this matter.
