  1. Linux: ~$500 | Windows ~$2800 reduced to ~$700 on Do We Spend More On Linux Or Windows? · · Score: 1

Correct me if I'm worng, but isn't there a gcc package available for windows also, and if there is why would you need to bother with VC++ since you like running the compiles from the command line anyway. Also since your office software needs are so basic, why would you need to upgrade from Office '97 in the first place...given you wouldn't be able to open Office XP formatted files unless they were saved in rtf format or as text.

So I agree with the previous poster your comparison is fairly daft

ah, but the circular saw was designed by a lefty, you can actuall see where the blade is cutting if you were using it with your left hand then again they are now coming out with the reversed circular saws(for us rightys).

When will these companies say hey do we really need to make stereos that hook up to the interent? I mean what the heck people are going to need like 15 different phone lines if they don't have broadband access. Let's see do I have one for the TV one for the Stereo oh need one for the computer and hey I better have one in case somebody calls me.

I guess I like the idea that I can only watch programs at a certain time(I know I have a vcr I could tape them if I really wanted too) it gives me a chance to actually go out in the world and do things other than staring mindlessly at the TV choosing whichever show I want to watch at whatever time.

I guess I really can't say much I just purchased Asheron's Call last night so I probably will be staring mindlessly at my computer screen for awhile.

I suppose that the proliferation of this technology also allows people who would never access the net unless they had something like this the ability to actually go on the net and do whatever they need to do.

just my long and not necessarily on-topic 2 cents

This is great for overclockers, but can it really compete with Kryotech. I guess the question I am asking is does it void your warranty Kryotech systems come with a 1 year warranty and I think the CPU retains its three year warranty from AMD. Whereas if you overclock with other things zip bang no more manufacturers warranty.

My thoughts from wht I have read would be that the chipset is the faulty part, because you already have to terminate Rambus slots I think I saw one on one of the hardware sites linked off of anand's page. It wouldn't be a surprise if Intel has pushed out a bad chipset it happens.

I think Intel should have just modified the trustworthy BX chipset to properly support 133 and come out with a chip that works correctly with RAMBUS and the motherboards.
