  1. Re:KDE vs. Gnome. Ready...FIGHT! on Torvalds Says 'Use KDE' · · Score: 1

Couldn't agree more. When people use "complicated" WMs they say "Linux is hard to use". Yes, they're stupid, but they are people too, and this kind of people are the ones who have not yet switched to Linux and keep using other less powerful operating systems. It's not casualty that Ubuntu chose GNOME. They're trying to attract people from other OSs. Now, I agree with Linus when he says the users are stupid. Indeed, they are, but it's not the job of GNOME to educate them. Education is now a problem worldwide. We all wish people were a bit more clever and use more "complex" alternatives, but we must not forget what the actual situation is.

  2. My two cents on Asa Dotzler on Why Linux Isn't Ready for the Desktop · · Score: 1

The answer to why Linux is not running on most of the desktops is pretty straightforward: Because it doesn't want to. Most of the articles which criticize Linux are correct when they say that if Linux was a united OS it would win a great deal of the market. However, they forget not everybody in the Linux community wants this to happen. Yes, there are a lot of geek users in this community and their objectives are quite different to the common belief. They don't want Linux to become the main Desktop OS. Why would they want that? Instead, they prefer to have a powerful OS they can handle. It's not that they're failing to achieve their goals. It's that they have different goals than the ones people think they have.

Yeah. None of the links seem to work.

  4. I don't find any relation on Random Number Generator That Sees Into the Future · · Score: 1

I haven't read enough about this (I just read the article), but if I didn't misunderstand, the machine throws a 0 or a 1 randomly. I'm concerned there are a lot of things we yet don't know, but finding a relation between such machine and -what we call- reality has no sense. I would accept someone saying there's a way to know the future, but whether that machine gives more 0's than 1's while some "global event" is happening could be just a coincidence.

  5. Good one! on Opera Claims Microsoft Has Poor Interoperability · · Score: 3, Interesting

What a great answer from this Opera Software's executive. I think we all know enough about this subject, but replies like this, from important executives, are helping everybody realize what Microsoft is doing.

  6. Re:What of other works of art? on Public Park Designated Copyrighted Space · · Score: 1

Completely agreed. This is so stupid. In some years we're going to have to ask for permission to the government everytime we wanted to take a picture outside our houses. Oh wait! My house was designed by an architect. Does it have copyright too? Well, then I'm not going to take pictures at all. Seriously, everybody in Chicago knows who was the creator of the bean. What's so wrong about the citizens taking a picture to it? They're not going to say it was created by them.

  7. Re:conceptual structure on Death of the Album? · · Score: 1

I agree with you. However, some albums have no "story" at all. Anyway, I don't think albums are going to die. Mainly because music consumers want just that, music. The way the music is given to them is decided by the companies.

  8. Are you sure? on Fedora Core Release 3 Released · · Score: 1
It is the only distro that runs on my laptop, and it is the only distro that I have been able to reliably install on just about any machine.
Are you sure? Maybe you haven't seen other alternatives. Actually, most of the ditros run almost everywhere. That's what Linux is about: 'Flexibility.'
