I would add one more benefit: This makes pursuing an accelerated curriculum easier and cheaper. For smart kids who are into self/home study, good open source textbooks help make it possible for them learn as fast as they can and want to.

The IBM 5110 was the second small IBM computer I worked on back in the 70's and I can remember the IBM rep pulling the 8" disk drives out of the back of his station wagon so we could use them on one occasion. If you look at the picture at IBM 5110, you will see just how portable that was.

If that's what he said, then it's so ironic because if he really felt that way, he would never have published the book. He would have kept all his secrets to himself. He doesn't need the money, so why else publish it except that he cares enough about what the world thinks that he wants to make people say he is brilliant (whether that group qualifies as the world at large or just a tiny segment he's trying to convince). Sad.
While it doesn't go into depth, several PC tablets where covered at TechTV in their article Tablet PCs: The New Ultraportable? based on their shown of February 7. It would seem to have the links to the major players. Now what I want to is is get my audio/video routed then controlled by such a beast.
