I think Phish started to block soundboard patches in the early 90s because people were pulling cables out without asking permission. Phish does release shows that were from the soundboard, but the source looks something like SBD>cass1>dat, so it does have an analog generation in there. Plus, some of the AUD recordings I've heard sound very similar to a SBD recording, and sometimes even better, depending on how the mix was for the venue that night.
