The reason outsourcing is cheaper is that the small business people that provide services to the technical people in the developing areas are living on far less than small business owners in the US do. The only way for US techs to compete is for the US small business people to accept only a third or half of the money they make now. If local businesses in the US ever truly understood this, most outsourcing would be stopped. This might not be good for any economy, but it would happen.
