Wells Fargo being a case in point. Gets the job done. Works in pretty much everything. (I've not actually tried it in Lynx.) I make a point of thanking them for this every time I talk to them on the phone or in email.

Unless you are a big business business. It seems Well's Fargo figures that they only use IE. I went to their commerical portal and clicked on ">CEO Sign On". I'm using Firefox 1.0.7 on Linux and it gave me this:

Browser not allowed. You cannot access the CEO portal with your current browser. Please upgrade your browser or download a new browser now.

Then what are you going to scan? Perhaps a better solution would be to use raid to speed up disk access.

  3. Re:whatever on CrossOver Office 5 and Wine 0.9 Released · · Score: 2, Interesting

If you use Linux as your desktop, it is friggin' annoying and impractical to have to reboot into Windows just to run an app. For instance, I use CrossOver to run Photoshop. Sure, Linux has the Gimp, but I've been using Photoshop for years and I don't want to have to learn a new graphics program. If I had to reboot into Windows everytime I wanted to use Photoshop, I would probably end up using Windows more than Linux :/ In short, CrossOver saves me from going having to run back to Windows. And that's a good thing.

  4. when will they get it right? on HP to Install Netscape on all new PCs · · Score: 1

In a perfect world HP would be giving users the choice between IE and Firefox. Instead, they get a choice between two notoriously bad browsers. NS may have gotten slightly better over the years, but I still remember the hell of getting web pages to work in NS4. It's sad that money is always the driving force behind change, but that fact isn't changing any day soon.
