    That looks like crap
    compared to the movie.
    The complexity is non exeistand.

    And it has a complete lack of color depth
    and good shadows.

    (not to mention depth of field or good lighting)

    What resolution you render stuff
    in doesnt really matter that much.

    I just rendered a 6400x4800 image
    yesterday so that I could get my rendertime down
    becouse I resized the image to 320x240
    the 3d app took care of the painfull extra
    quality work.

    So I sawed 2 hours from what
    would have taken 9 hours to render.

    Its object complexity and shader complexity that matters. (not to matter the quality you render in)

    10. light shaders
    11. Displacement of all genetic geometry at once.
    ie every object has different xyz values for every vertex in every frame.

    I seriusly dont that this DEMO does that.
    Untill you get prman to run on your
    gfx card this kind of thing means shit.
    Not system has enogh bandwidth to plaback
    a movie in even preview mode.
    You need to render it first.

    I see this verry often here at slashdot that you cannot express then difference between the two in a correct and informative way.

    As I am not apart of the population that makes up the USA I tend to get a sickening fealing in my stomach everytime I am refered to as an american.

    When writing the message I only assumed that he doesnt fully grasp the opensource idea.
    I knew he couldnt possible have read the book.
    I have so I know what it is about.
    About 10% of the computer users are using linux.
    Linux is important to them.
    They might be a small portion of the world but
    I would like to know how you can know that the whole wourld would agree with your atatemnt that I assume that I dont know that the book clarifies the opensource model of software development and ownership amongst other things.

    And as a side note. Linux is really important for corel since they are going to have their full line of products on linux.

    Side note 2: You seam to be a bit angry.
    This conversation we are having is really not worth being angry about. You might want to change your priorities a bit.

    Mr Derek Burney, if you are reading this I strongly encourage you to read the Cathedral and the bazar book. It clarifies what open source is. It seams to me that you dont fully grasp the subject of ownership and IP in an opensource world.

    I have been trying to set up teTex for the last 2 weeks... But no luck..... Everytime I try to convert to dvi something crapps out on me. Does annyone know what is required to install teTex? Or can you perhapps give me a runthrough of how to install teTex? (I just do ./configure && make World right now) btw: I dont use a distribution and I dont have a package management system installed, so packages wont install. thanks

    out www.blender.nl
    It has realtime stuff now. So you
    can make games (like quake).
    Or just make buildings and walk around in them.
    It would be a lot easier and faster to do this in
    blender.

    And they can save in the licensing money of
    Quake (blender is free :)

    SO in short. I dont see anny benefit
    from using quake instead of blender.

    It is not I repeat not available for download now. It will be released in the end of june. You can now download blender 1.75 wich is not game blender. Game blender is blendder version 2.0. The current blender is freware with added bonus if you buy it. Game blender will contain everything that blender 1.75 does plus tools for making your own games without the nead for programing(its possible to program in python). And Game blender will be compleately free.

    The swedish government laid out plans to spend about 1 billion$ And Private companies does the same. So the whole country of sweden(which allso allreaddy is the most internet able country in percentage (we only have 9 million people)) will have broadband within a few years. There allreaddy exists ways to get it for about 25$ a month if you live in one of the major cities. So this sounds like a really good thing. yay! Movies on demand.
