Maybe you're not a troll, but your post was a troll. Did you even read the article before posting it? If you had, I don't think you would say what you said...
Geez people, is this really a news for nerds site? One would expect crappy stories like this being rejected immediately. Bittorrent is not infected with spyware and never will be unless Bram Cohen wants that to happen. Of course, unofficial clients may have all the spyware they want, it wouldn't be the first time for this to happen with BT...
I won't even mention distributing spyware using a bittorrent tracker...
I don't think that Google Scholar is meant to be a replacement for citeseer... It doesn't even cache the papers, which citeseer does (in several formats).
Yes, citeseer's server is usually overloaded, but I've never had any big problems with that either (I can always download the papers I want, even if at a slow speed).
Yeah, and lots of people also like to click around in the windows start menu, probably because of the small delay which the popups take to appear... But I find it amazing that after doing this so many times they never notice that some of the times, the popup appears before they click... Either they are too distracted with their thoughts to notice, or they just don't think... I think the first is probably the truth.
Seriously people, have you noticed the layout of that news site? The text barely occupies 1/4 of the screen's width? Or am I the only one who's disgusted ?
How about if you take a DVD and a VHS and scrape both of the pavement, which one will still work. The VHS tape, making it the obvious choice for durability.
So let me think a bit... If I hit a piece of paper and a VHS tape with an iron bar, which one stops working? The VHS tape, so the piece of paper is more durable...
Forced proofs don't work! (the sibling poster gave other examples too)
What about non US/english users? I figure that there is probably no advantage at all for me to switch. Err wait, do I type more in Portuguese or English nowadays? Oh wait, invalid question... I type more in C/C++ and Portuguese (on msn messenger...).
So I guess I won't have any advantage in switching to another keyboard layout, since none of them is probably optimized for any of those languages.

Geez, if there are planets like this one just 15 light years away (a grain of sand in universal terms, I think), imagine how many earth-like planets there are in the universe...
Yeah, I guess that'll be the other side of the coin... I wonder if humanity will destroy itself with an incident like that, or else some Alien-movie-like incident...
That isn't free, unless the guy/gal who gives you the present is a lot richer than you and gives out very good presents :)
thinking "this was the [superlative] part, so this is the part they'll want to know about!"
no, they think "this is the part I want to talk about"...
So what?

That's even more idiotic then... Any file transport protocol can be used for that, that's why I wasn't going to mention it.

Don't forget this too :).
Actually this mirror has existed for a very long time now. It's also the most famous, I think.
I understand what you mean, but what I meant was that noone can bash google scholar because they haven't even released it yet...

Of course it's not ready for prime time, when it is, google will eliminate the BETA VERSION tag...

Have you never seen Star Wars?
Well, unless one of NSA's mathematicians has already cracked RSA :)

Unless I did this...

Err, that should have been "How come", I changed the sentence after writing it :D
Yeah. Then:
:(
Slashdot Guy (thinking): Why come I never attract any girls?
No, but I have much better than that, if you'll excuse me...
No, I heard it has one... but it's quite bad.
From what I've seen, you can't enter the competition at this moment. Check this out.
I may be wrong, though...
