hah! what was that for ? degrees dont teach anything ?? well my friend school is the basis for education. I dont understand why have to make such a generalized statement here.
btw it was his wife who was using IE not him and if you are married then you wouldnt simply put the blame on him.
The person has written a credible article and he deserves some applause and not some useless 1 liners.

  2. Re:Platform or application? on Open Source on Windows - Boon or Bane for Linux? · · Score: 1

This is a good way of handling the good old grannies who stay in their own world and refuse to look outside. Running KDE in windows is a way of ginving them (-who refuse to do anything different and use the same old windows no matter what hell breaks loose) a feel of how it is outside their world and then eventually bring them out of their dark room. Thus, either way it is a win for the FOSS. The only criteria is that it should be better than what windows has to offer.

Dude! it is open source. Yes, training and support does cost some money and that is the reason why the margin is just 36%. As long as the employees arent grannies, who claim that they can never change with the latest trend, this should work out for the better for the companies.

what if the company is a partner of the microsoft and is working on security issues in IE ? This is a generalised statement. It depends on the needs of the company. Neither MS nor the Linux group would be bothered by this.

  5. Is that a surprise? on Australian TCO Study: Linux Wins Again · · Score: 1

Isnt that pretty obvious ?? Why waste all the money in a study/survey and come up with such results. The only thing that we werent aware of was the "36%" value. Strange, thought it would be much more than that.

  6. who cares .. on Yahoo! Releases Desktop Search Tool · · Score: 1

well... ya maybe the windows desktop search is a little slow, but is that the main concern now? what is the ratio of searching the internet to searching the desktop - about 1000000 : 1. The real race is in Net seaching (which is ruled right now by the one and only 'google'). The bottomline is that, for a search which even the most disorganized freaks dont use often, the current one is good enough. So get innovative and try to compete in the 'internet search' race. If you cannot do that, and instead you are trying to come up with something new, useful then this is NOT it.

why cant they just use existing stuff like mozilla or opera and isntead build something on based on IE. Isnt "Do not use IE: its a security issue" quote spreading fast enough...
