Initially I was incredibly enthusiastic when I heard about this. But then I found the following in the FAQ at the "Google Print" page:
6. What can I do with a book that I find using Google Print?
Well, you can browse a few pages, learn more about the topics explored by the book, buy it, find it at a library, or commit a selection to memory. Browser printing and image copying functions are disabled on Google Print content pages.
If images can't be copied for public domain stuff, and they can't be downloaded from the site to be used for any purpose, then this is a lot less free than it sounds.
