I dunno about you... but the 4x games I play have espionage in them. I know what tech the computers have, and I wouldn't be suprised if they knew what tech I had.
Blizzard had been saying that money would not be as important...
Money really isn't that important in WoW and Blizzard has accomplished a very good job in allowing the market for lower-level items to flourish (That is, it is easy for a low level player to sell their drops and make cash). There are very few top-tier items that you can buy, the rest are drops from which you must be a part of the group/kill. Nevertheless, there are still people who will pay 500+ gold for an item that is probably +5% better than what you could get yourself with a moderate amount of effort.
That said, money isn't irrelevant. At level 60, you still need cash in order to buy consumables, repair your equipment, and even save up for that pink elephant. IMO, the volume in the gold selling market is a testament to the lengths people will go in order to be 'King of the Hill' (IE, buy that item that is 5% better).
Quite the contrary.. I was amazed as I watched a tech friend of mine troubleshoot my computer back in the Win95 days. BSOD came up, he noticed that there was a fault in a certain *.exe and was able to fix the problem soon after.
The intellimouse explorer 4.0 had the slight 'click' for the scroll wheel, whereas the intellimouse 5.0 doesn't. I've talked to many people about this certain feature, and they all agree that its one of the factors that made them choose another mouse. And yes, they all got MX510s, which are spectacular.
No, this isn't really a good idea. Kids are masters of deception and I wouldn't be suprised if a kid threatened his parent's with jail time; ie, "let me go to the party or I'll kill someone and you go to jail for 20 years."
A joke is funny if its funny. It may sound stupid, but there isn't any more logic to it than that. Besides, trying to implement a "group think" system for Funny moderation works against the purpose of jokes anyway. I find a joke funny because I find it funny. If you don't like it, well.. move along or make your own joke.
But yet they would be the first to brake any social rules
Social rules are simply some unspoken belief a person has created to justify their actions to themselves. If I call you a nigger while we're playing Quake or Counter-Strike, and you become offended, I AM IN CONTROL OF YOUR EMOTIONS.
Effective competitors will do everything they can to psych out their competition. If I can divert your concentration away from the game, then I've probably won.
I'm always amused by the people who think I want to knife them when I slash a wall in CS. No, I'm baiting you and it worked.
I wish the Hardcore gammers would play in a different area then the people who are in it for a 1/2 hour of fun.
CAL-IM+++ ONLY PLZ... yeah, that actually attracts some of the worst players I have ever seen. The only way you're going to get what you want, is to join a private community that caters to such. Otherwise, you'll just have to roll with the punches. Life sucks sometimes.
