I don't think that Microsoft will respect any warranty even if law force them to. They are rich and arrogant enough to just ignore any law they don't like (and pretend this law is killing innovation, as usal:-).

Releasing songs in mp3 format is not interesting, since no one will be able to play them.
I didn't know that the MP3 standard was designed to disapear after a certain amount of time... I think you're a bit paranoid: if a band wants to give away free music, they will encode it in a free format, with a player freely available in the net, so everyone will be able to play it freely on his computer.
My guess would be that if Mudcrawler couldn't access your page, it would be assumed to be smut and blocked. Damn, my server is down! Oops! Looks like my billion dollar DotCom site is now listed as smut!
We will also celebrate the 'defaite de l'internet' to protest against the french (un-)justice's actions against AlternB and Le Village. Take a look at this site (in french, sorry).
