"It's not who votes that counts. It's who counts the votes." -- Joseph Stalin
I don't think it's an issue of technology but how it is applied. Without accountability, there's no difference.
I would be posting something original, but after reading through the postings, I can see that you are all in some kind of conspiracy to steal my ideas and post them before I can.
I think college was definitely worse than high school. I learned more during the last two years of high school than I did during all of college. If anything, I believe high school needs to teach kids that it is up to them to educate themselves, and that they cannot rely on classes or college to really prepare them for even 10% of life.
I see people graduating from college with the attitude, "Finally...I don't have to learn anything more." Instead, they should be thinking, "I know how to teach myself whatever is necessary." It's all about changing the attitudes and empowering people to be personally responsible for their education and future.
From my understanding, Mono is based somewhat on "Rotor" which is Shared Source (not sure how that works legally). I'm actually involved in porting a.NET web app to Mono. It works well. A few minor code changes. It's just a little slower. Here's the link on rotor:

No kidding. Try two years. They've had to trim some features off of Longhorn just to get it out this decade.
