It's a good technology, but it's being overused. "Wireless" has become a buzzword.

    * WiFi / Bluetooth for Newtons, laptops, PDAs, etc. - very good. Having to mess with more than one cable every time I move my "mobile" computer is a PITA.
    * Bluetooth celphone - good thing. I can sync my contacts and calendar to my phone without taking it out of my pocket.
    * Wireless headset - a little silly, but still nifty. Leave my phone in my pocket, talk on it handsfree without hanging myself on a cord.
    * Wireless mouse - not so smart.Batteries make the mouse heavy, make my wrist tendons work harder, aggravate my carpal tunnel. Besides - it's a MOUSE people, it shouldn't have to move more than a foot or two.
    * Wireless keyboard - in the name of all that's holy, why? It's one cable, and it should never move!

And for you folks saying PDFs are a scourge of the Internet I agree.

I almost agree -- PDFs are the scourge of the Windows-using Web. I've yet to find a PDF viewer for 'doze that doesn't bog down the machine, lock up, and/or crash out. On other platforms (specifically Mac OSX, not sure about Linux), viewing PDFs doesn't hurt at all. I like that a PDF renders the same every time, regardless of what you're viewing it through, I just wish there was a viewer and browser plugin for 'doze that doesn't suck.

My pet peeve is links that open PDFs without warning, especially when they're incorporated into some kind of fancy button that doesn't even reveal the destination in the status bar on the bottome of the browser.

Totally agreed -- any link (button, script, etc.) that opens something other than an html page should bear a clear warning.

Internet usage IS already metered on some (most?) ISPs.

For example, my "Pro" broadband package includes 30GB of combined transfer in a month. If I exceed that, I'm billed for each MB of overage. If I don't come close to using that for a few months in a row, I'll get the "Standard" package, with a 15GB cap, and pay less.
