  1. Re:What about MAC OS X ? on The G4 and Apple's Second Coming · · Score: 1

furthermore, Mac OS X Server is barely ready for the admins... The documentation is indeed pathetico. Luckily, there's enough "plug'n'play"-ability to it that my meager UNIX skills (that year in college where I checked my email with elm...) have allowed me to set up Apache 1.3.6, Netboot for 25+ iMacs, and more...

Furthermore, I'd like to see the person whose eyeballs can differentiate between 65 fps & 75 fps. Movies in the theater have been 24 fps for years and no one's scramblin' to make that faster... TV's a marginally better 29.95 fps...

"While the rest of the world Slumbers"... are you referring to the fact that all Apple boxes since 1984 have been Y2K compliant? Or the fact that eventually Apple won't need the "monotonous wheezing" that is Micro$oft and move on?

BTW: It wasn't Bill Gates that made Apple arise from its ashes... it was the buyout of Power Computing's kickass 604e & the return of der führer, Herr Jobs.

I think it's because it's so easy to confuse G3 with LCIII... I mean, the boxes obviously look exactly the same, and the G3 isn't that much faster, is it? And besides, the latest Mac OS is still 7.1, isn't it?

So get a better card & stick it in one of the 3 66Mhz PCI slots! Then you can take advantage of a dual headed setup like Apple's been supporting for around a decade... Frankly I wouldn't cry too much to see all my palettes refreshing at 1,600 by 1,200 pixel resolution at 32 bits per pixel and up to 85-Hz refresh rates.
