Been there many times.
Yes this is a redundant post but it needs to be repeated. Networking, Networking, Networking.
You don't suppose W got where he is based just on intelligence and job skills, do you?
Every job I've ever had has been from Networking. Not once have I gotten even a decent interview through a head hunter. Head Hunters filter for key works and only interview those whose skills fit the order exactly. Why? Because they fill the worst jobs at the worst companies. Jobs no one who has networking skills will consider because they know better.
Have a terrific day.
You mean there really was a purpose for all those
round rings on the barrels of the sci fi lasers?
Guess you just have to be going mach 1 plus to work.
I just ordered an expensive set of CBT discs, and I've no qualms about the quality of the training, but a lot about the usabilitiy considering they have DRM. I've been burned before when the software vendor has gone out of business leaving me with nothing.
Have to agree with your sentiments.
My first job's prime directive was don't baffle the users with acronymns. So please don't keep us in suspense.
What is RSS again?
Because their user opinions aren't objective like their support. But I think they're excellent otherwise.
I bought a modem that had a post claiming it was "controller based", and Linux compatible according to the mfg. It was a software modem and you needed to have the Linux source installed, which I didn't. I pointed this out three times nicely and constructively and was rejected 3 times. Heck, I even used IE for one.
Last week a tv card on sale had 5 stars and 17 wonderful posts. All seventeen had strange spelling/grammar issues so I skipped it despite a wonderful price. The eighteenth said the previous 17 must of been the manufacturor because his mileage varied greatly. Well Yeah!

Cute little ditty. Made me grin.
Until I remembered the girl in first year chemistry who liked the feel of water running through her fingers. Out of habit, she poured a beaker of H2SO4 into the sink through her fingers. No one knew who left it there, as there were several guilty parties, but we all felt responsble.
What is in demand is people who can do both technical skills well and have a clue re business. It is very difficult to learn both programming and system administration and have a life unless you get it while in school.
Once you are in the door tweaking the servers or networks of a small business, they frequently think you can program web sites and do modifications to their accounting systems. With business administration, you can also sell & support accounting packages which keep the calls coming.
A history of Basic would probably as large or larger than any other branch on the tree. Hundreds of thousands of US businesses run their back office on the very effective modern versions of this old beginner's language. Out of the 19 languages I've learned over the years, must of which made the list, I've been paid to program in business basics (non microsoft versions) more than any other language in recent years.
