You have seen your brain evolving! Isn't evolution AMAZING! It even made it into an otherwise intelligent brain and did a design. There is nothing evolution cannot do!
If HTTP(s) and SMTP client-side implementations can be written look up SVR RR's with their DNS query, we won't need IPv6 for a factor of just under 65535 times longer. The restricting factor on IPV4 is that it is not feasable to run many services on something other than the port in/etc/services. If there is a way to publish the port the service is running on, then tunnelling can be done wildly, and firewalls can become useless. (Except that firewalls are already largely useless.)
How do you and your peers experience the internet where everything is available - not just what is approved by the state. What are the favourite forbidden downloads, protocols and haunts? -- I'm thinking of news, movies, music, the Bible and porn. Do you have the same level of internet censorship and fear of being watched as China?
To hear you tell it, I would think your peers a little dim. "That's just what I believe," is a very bad place to stop. "I'll find out," is better by far. It doesn't often come to that, because the terms of the discussion are far too frequently, "assume you're wrong, now prove you're right".
But seriously, don't you think the chances are rather slim that atheism will survive the total onslaught from Intelligent Design and friends to remain a respectable religion:) for another 200 years? (Not to mention how it may fare against the vicious east.)
Who says facts aren't considered?
You did - your reasoning was:
1. There is no God
Therefore: Jesus is not God. QED
Not a single messy fact involved. Just cool crisp logic.
If you like opportunities, I suggest you harass your friends until they are forced to search out objective evidence, or join you in disbelief. If they don't have evidence, you'll only be doing them a favour.
You said "Also, true atheists don't "hate" Jesus, they simply don't think he's divine, since there is no God. "
So, before any facts have been considered, the conclusion is reached, requiring only the initial axioms. An elegant solution, and a notable triumph of reason:)
Encouraged by the sight of Christians celebrating the birth of Darwin, a group of ardent athiests have decided to ditch Santa Claus to celebrate celebrate the birth of Christ this Christmas. A spokesman for the group of 440 concilliatory athiests said, "We really should celebrate the man we love to hate." There are currently no plans to drop the Easter Bunny.
The law in South Africa prescribes "affirmative action" employment for all companies beyond a certain size. Recruiters are so tired of getting applications they can do nothing with that they advertise "Affirmative action" posts. This really means "whites need not apply". They have enough whites already, and need some blacks -- irrespective of whether they can do the job or not. A good haircut might do. Whites are also constrained in running their own businesses. "Black Economic Empowerment" (BEE) means that government work goes primarily to black owned businesses, who must apply the same discrimination when choosing their suppliers.
So come all y'all darkies! Come over here to the land of unequal opportunity! Fear not the oppression of the light skinned! We have thrown off their shackles! Africa awaits you!
Interestingly, the fruit being an "apple" comes from Greek mythology. Hera stands in the place of Eve. The Greeks have it all upside down, of course. The serpent is the liberator, rather than the deceiver in Greek mythology, and Athena takes the serpent as her protector, etc, etc.
I have a document from 4000BC which claims that man routinely lived for up to 700 years back then - read it!. It also claims that man's lifespan was reduced to 120 years because he was a pain (same ref). The whole evil lot were killed in a worldwide tsunami, and there were 8 survivors.
So it's been tried before, and it was an unmitigated disaster. Now, if science can fix evil, that would be progress.
I believe, although I cannot prove, that where archaeology disagrees with written history, the written record is generally correct, and the archaeology is as often as not scientifically worded fiction.
Unlike most of the people who enlightened us with their unprovable beliefs, I believe that science does a poor job of discovering the facts history - but I cannot prove this.
They only come out with the fairies at the full moon. Right now they're hiding. Wait a bit and try again.
I read this 3 days ago here. So, when the theory and the facts disagree, what do we do, class? Yes, that's right. We discard both.

There is an implication of a historical basis.
Indeed. The air on the moon is not fit to breathe anyway.
