Some of them are actually in it for the money. On the level of individual bahavior, Barksdale's stupid antics don't rise much above a creepy misdemeanor. On the level of a business with its own money, a blank check from the government, and a direct profit interest in violation of privacy, it gets very scary.

This is the same argument used by the White House in justifying its refusal to release the names of VP Cheney's energy task force attendees. Any third-grader--no offense to third graders-- would know it's just self-serving bull.
